Coffee WorkshopsWe strive to offer a premium coffee experience, and we hand roast our own product. It is part of our business culture that the quality of the cup of coffee will make or break the customer’s experience.
Barista training and coffee workshops at Red Cherry are delivered by Jody Joblin, founder and co-owner of the business. Enquire Now!
I have been in the hospitality industry for 20 years, and first laid hands on an espresso machine 15 years ago. There is an old cliché in the coffee industry, “Once you begin to learn about coffee, you realise how much there is that you don’t know!”
And I am still learning! Which is so exciting, because the coffee industry is constantly evolving. There is a real espresso culture now, people expect an excellent coffee from their local cafe, and mostly they will get it. With close to 200 boutique coffee roasters in New Zealand, our industry is made up of similar craft men and women, all striving for the ultimate, to serve the perfect coffee. To serve a coffee which tastes as good as it smells.
Jody ranked ninth in New Zealand in 2008 at the National Barista Championships. With any coffee workshops i deliver, i prefer to speak with my clients and find out exactly what they need. There are so many topics to cover with coffee, it is important that we use the time most effectively. I can offer training one to one, or small groups, or corporate evenings. • Maybe you are a fresh new Barista wanting to fine tune your skills, or learn more about work flow and efficiency? • Perhaps you are looking at a career change and want to know what’s involved with becoming a Barista. • Perhaps you have just purchased a coffee machine at home, and the instruction manual doesn’t make sense? I can help you get the most out of your machine. • Why not gather a few friends and make an evening of it, we can also include desserts / canapés and wine. Corporate evenings or social groups often come along to Red Cherry to enjoy a roasting demonstration, coffee history, a discussion about different brewing methods, and then some secrets into what goes on behind the espresso machine. Whatever your group, or individual coffee interests are, I can design a session that will inspire and educate you. Please provide me with as much information as possible on our enquiry form and I will contact you with some options. "St Peter’s School, Cambridge has used Jody on a number of occasions to teach our Tourism Studies and Hospitality students. Topics covered include: ‘How does the Red Cherry operate as a business’ and ‘Introduction to coffee and coffee making’. We have found Jody to be able to engage students and make the topics covered interesting and exciting. She has developed quiz’s and information sheets. These coupled with practical demonstrations create a valuable learning experience." - Simon Cushen, November 2011 Check out these links: www.nzcra.org.nz www.espressoquest.com www.coffeegeek.com |
